Project Description

The Magnum Opus project is located in the South Lake area in Ziliujing District, Zigong City, Sichuan Province. Since there are mountains and water courses located around the site, the design was inspired by Chinese ancient scroll painting and the surrounding geological context. The intention was to create a new Asian imperial style landscape.

The elements of “mountain”, “river”, “pavilion” were extracted and reused in the landscape. As visitors move along, the perspectives change. The sense of grandeur is enhanced by spatial relations and architecture styles. Visitors can get access to the 1500㎡landscape display area through the sales gallery, located at the center of the axis. The display houses were located on the west side and the key waterscape on the east side.

The traditional eastern lifestyle ideal is expressed in the landscape through the activities programmed in the pavilions and decks. The sense of time is felt through the daily change of light and shadows and seasonal change of fauna and flora.
